small things yarn along - dragonfly shawl

I'm happy to be participating in small thing's yarn along this week.  Although it's not pictured, I'm currently reading Tolkien's Fellowship of the Ring.  I'm an ardent fan of the movies and it's been a goal of mine for quite a little while to read the books so I'm happy to be settling down into it. 

We have a new family member.  His name was going to be Tolkien, but at the last minute, I took pity on the little critter and decided that was too weighty of a name to live up to.  Instead, he's been christened Pippin.  And I do mean christened.  My 2 year old daughter wanted to be certain her kitten knew where the water dish was so she plunked him directly in it, but despite that and other delights of toddler love, Pippin the kitten is utterly infatuated with her as well.  Their delight in one another is mutual and too adorable for words. 

I'm working on a shawl pattern from the book Crochet in Color.  So far, so good.
